Question from Todd: Scanner Help?
I am going to purchase a scanner so that I can save old family photos. However, I have searched everywhere and I cannot find one. I have looked at Wal-Mart, Best Buy, Target, Circuit City, and others. So, I am forced to buy one online.
Now to my question. What should I look for in a scanner? What makes a scanner more reliable than other scanners?
Does anyone have any recommendations for a scanner?
I want a USB scanner.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance for taking time to answer the question.
I have all ready have a copy of Photoshop.
I have a Dell Computer and Laptop.
I want it to be compatible with it.

Wow! What was I thinking?
Yes, they had scanners, but I meant they did not have one by itself. They were all combinations (printer, scanner, all in one).

Did you try Office Depot… look for the highest resolution you can find..and what the bundled software is…watch for anything “lite” instead of full version. some come with Photoshop
If your family photos include slides, be sure to get a scanner that has an adapter to handle transparancies. I can’t believe that Best Buy or Circuit City didn’t have a scanner! Many scanners are now part of an all-in-one printer /scanner /copier /fax machine.
Personally, I find epson software to be really annoying. The fully auto mode sucks. HP or Lexmark aren’t too bad.
Support software should be considered when making your decision.
Try the Best Buy store. (see attached link)
They have several. Many are available on-line only, but some are also in the stores.
go to office depot thats the best place for them to help you or best buy
