When starting up my laptop I keep getting this error message: missingbootmgr error on vista?

I have already tried restoring to factory settings from the disk that comes with the laptop but about halfway through i get an error message and it kicks me off of restoring the factory settings. I also went into the system repair menu and when i click on the option to repair the start up it gives me a message that it is unable to repair this and that i can report this to microsoft and search for other options. I do this and it says it is unable to find any repairs. Help!

    What is the error message?
These factory restore disks, do they look brand new or are they kinda sorta scratchy?
Does your computer itself make any kind of strange noise when you turn it on other than sounds that come from the speaker?

It sounds like you hard drive may have gone bad. First i would try to completely re install windows. if you keep getting an error or it can’t install at all then its your hard drive. Laptop hard drives are fairly cheep order one from newegg.com
