I have several files on my external drive that I have no clue what they are for. Could you please tell me if I can safely delete them or not. These files are literally random and I have no clue what they are for. I’m guessing that they could be from some kind of system updates or anything like that. I also have my external drive plugged in all the time. Any info about these files would help, thanks!

But if error appears, you can restore the files from your archive backup. Give your answer to this error below!
A safe way to do it, it to archive (rar or zip) the files first, before deleting it, so that you have a backup.
Question from Kate: Question for anyone who plays runescape?
So on Runescape I’m doing the quest Demon Slayer.
I’ve got the sword and everything and I’ve gone to the place with the wizards and the evil demon.
I saw the cut scene and everything but then a wizard killed me so I respwaned back in Lumbridge.
I got to my grave thing in time and got my stuff back.
So I went into the circle thing again, and defeated one of the wizards.
Then I tried to attack Delrith (the demon). I used silverlight, but nothing’s happening?
I’m just sort of following the demon and he’s just walking around. Nothings happening. I tried walking out and going back in but I still can’t attack him. I tried talking to the guy in Varrock Castle but he doesn’t say anything useful.
Can anyone help me?

that happened to me, too. the best way to make it work is to train until ur level 65 or 70 so u can defeat delrith in an accurate way. what happened to u happened to me and i trained and now im halfway defeating delrith. plus, u might want to train, cause when ur about to attack delrith, u might get killed by a level 20 dark wizard.

Well…the other day i tried to download some microsoft software called “silverlight” [i didnt know what it did, but i was trying to download some entrance sample papers from the net and it said i needed that software]..the download was complete, but the next time i restarted my comp, this “you may be a victim of software counterfeiting” message popped up.
The thing is, i got my pc recently formatted, and the guy who did it for me used a pirated copy of windows. But i have the original one [which i forgot to give him]. I dont know how to get rid of that message without buying it, coz its a waste coz i already have the original thing!

What I don’t get is about the quest, it says when you finally need to kill the dragon, your inventory should only have this strength potion, three different runes and all the rest should be lobsters. But then it says you’ll need three planks and thirty steel nails. So when you have your inventory full, where do you put the planks and nails? It’s not possible there’s a bank on the boat right? So where does the nails and planks come in? Because I heard when you’re sailling to that island, the dragon appears and smashes your boats and kills this guy … This is so complicated and confusing… Can someone help me? Also I’m a level 47, my strengh,attack,defence levels are all 40, and I did manage to kill that level 82 demon that you have to kill when you get the first piece of map, and I killed it very successfully and did need to eat anything, also my how’s 40 as well. My player’s a quite good player to melée by is just a bit weak against magic, do you think I can beat the dragon once? Because I hate to lose all my rune armor that I’m planning to wear to kill the dragon. And by the way, what sword should I use? The rune sword, right? And is the sword silverlight really that crap, because my friends say it is?

Well the dragon honestly isn’t that hard… but it’s a hella lot greater challenge than the demon. You’ll want to definitely make sure you’re wearing the fire-breath shield that you get from the Duke of Lumbridge.
The planks and nails are used to fix the boat to get to the island. What you need to do is go fix the boat, then go back to the bank and restock your inventory with your lobster, then head off to the island… I believe that is what they meant.
You’ll want to run through the island that you get on as quickly as possible. It includes a lot of challenging monsters who will only waste food if you choose to fight them. So quickly run to the location of the stairs/ladder (don’t remember which it is) where the dragon is… and then heal up, and use your potions before you go down it.
Simply go down the ladder/stairs, and kick some butt. It should be that simple… let me know how it goes!!

Here’s the story – I’ll try to be as detailed as possible. Caution though, it is a lengthy explanation, so I apologize in advance, but I am desperate and paranoid here.
Recently (within the past 4 or so hours) my Toshiba laptop (Windows XP) has been completely freaking out. It has had several freezes, 4-5 crashes, strange application requests, and other suspicious behavior. At the time, I had Zone Alarm, AVG Free, and a form of McAfee installed on my computer.
Now, since its April 1st my first guess – Conficker. I used the worm info from Microsoft:

This morning everything was fine, and I didn’t match any of the symptoms. But suddenly, I was unable to go to Microsoft Update, or run the Malicious Software removal tool (links on the page) – Two indications that your computer was infected with conficker. I ran the Windows Live OneCare Safety Scanner this morning with no results, but when I ran it again a few hours ago (when the suspicious behavior began) it would cause my computer to freeze up and force me to restart.
I then downloaded a few more programs (Silverlight, Windows Live OneCare Trial) but that just seemed to cause more crashes, and Zone Alarm was catching a lot of strange programs trying to run (a bunch I have never heard of or installed). I removed both programs since.
The weirdness continues – I was suddenly, without reason, able to access Microsoft Update and the Malicious Software removal tool. I ran both; The Update downloaded a few things, but the Microsoft Genuine Advantage installer crashed. The Mal. Software removal tool also crashed, forcing another reboot.

I downloaded the Conficker removal tool patch from the site (which is odd, since conficker disables downloaded patches like this), ran it, but the computer crashed again.
I then downloaded the 15day trial of Norton AntiVirus 2009, and initiated the scan; Its been scanning for a while now, still no infections have been caught.
So I’m at a total loss here; Before, my computer was totally freaking out, crashing every 10 minutes. Now it seems ok, but I want to be absolutely sure. Earlier I couldn’t access any anti-worm links, but now I can.
What is going on? Is it conficker? Is it just a common virus (which raises the question why AVG didn’t pick it up)? Or is it nothing? Please help!
I will edit this later with details after the norton scan has finished. Thanks for your help.

UPDATE: My computer has been rather normal recently. Norton Antivirus scanned, and came up with nothing. I’m running the conficker patch again, and I will try the scanner Hottie linked one more time after that. The mystery just deepends; It seemed like virus/spyware, but Norton came up with nothing, and it hasn’t done anything weird since. Am I in the clear, or what? What should I do?

I have been reading much in forums and gotten no solutions. When I started up my computer (acer aspire-windows vista it came preinstalled w/ McAffe Security) any way down at the bottom right, the windows icon was there and said I needed an update. When I went to updates I selected the important update KB960353 Microsoft Silverlight, and also an acer up date. When then began to download they were not able to fully install. Nothing else happened so it either shut itself down, or it said to shut it down. When I tried to restart, I got the beginning screen with a small string of words. Next I got the option to launch repair or start normally. Anywat I tried F8 safemode, safe mode with networking. I tried holding in the button for a minute and then starting it. There were all things mentioned in forums. Everything came preinstalled so I don’t have discs. Its just shy of 1 year old. Please help! What do I do?

Personally I would start the computer in safe mode and run “System Restore” to a time you know the computer booted up normal.

Question from Maquis47: Runescape Leveling Questions?
I started playing RS last week and so far I’m enjoying the game, but I have a lot to learn. I’m trying to concentrate on mining and Runecrafting but I think I really need to get my combat level up first. I’ve heard that I need a set of Runecrafting gloves from the Fist of Guthix to boost my Runecrafting but since I’m a low level noob, I have no hope of winning a duel there.
2 questions.
First, whats the best option for getting my combat level raised to something competitive? Is it more efficient to keep pounding away on the level 2-5 monsters or attack something closer to my level?
Current Stats:
Combat overall: 20
Attack: 18
Strength and Defense: 15
Range: 7
Magic: 15ish (not sure)
Prayer: 16
Constitution: 21
Second, I’m really confused about armor and weapons. What armor is the best to get? I’m mainly fighting with magic and a sword (Silverlight sword from a quest). I use the fire attack spell when I can and switch over to the sword once I run out of runes. The heavy warrior style armor is good when wielding a sword but it hurts my magic. The magic robes help magic but don’t protect me from that guard that’s pounding away at me.
Should I have 2 sets of armor and constantly switch between them? I know inventory space is at a premium so I usually just pick something out of the bank and stick with it. What armor sets should I be working to eventually get and keep? (Non-member, only care about stats not style)

Well for fist of guthix if you want those gloves, i suggest training as mage, because you get a ton of free runes when you play it and it gives you a chance to level it really fast on other players without the cost of buying the runes. As for the armor you should wear, my suggestion would be the mystic lava staff, and full mystic. It may take you awhile to acquire these items, but when you find a talent for money it should be easy. Just do woodcutting, fishing, or some other high profit skill suck as mining pure rune essence to make money. My fishing is about 60 and i make really easy money fishing lobsters and selling them in the grand exchange. As for combat armor, until you get rich i suggest you beat dragon slayer and you use a g maul, or a rune long, and full rune, once you get to the level. For now you should see if you can wear full black or mithril. I hope this helps.
