Disk read error CTRL+ALT+DELETE (Windows 7 boot up), trying to triple boot?

Question from Kenan: Disk read error CTRL+ALT+DELETE (Windows 7 boot up), trying to triple boot?
OK So I have Windows 7 and Ubuntu on my PC. I have installed Windows XP SP3 x86 as the third one as I need it to update my Samsung Omnia HD, which my only option left is to get Windows XP.

So I finish installing Windows XP and it says to reboot, so I do so and when it gets up to the ‘boot from cd’ bit, I either press any key to continue (Which then goes into the set up AGAIN) or leave it without pressing any key, which then says “Disk read error CTRL+ bla bla bla to restart”. It also has some letters highlighted at some places.

The only way I can get back onto Windows 7 is to insert that disc in and repair startup.

How can I get Windows XP running on my pc? Do I have to remove Ubuntu first? I had that in mind because maybe my computer does not support more than dual since at startup it has a logo type of picture saying “Dual Bios”

Please do not say to install ‘Windows XP Mode’, I have Home premium, it doesn’t support it (Unless you got a way to get it to work, as someone in a forum said they did)

Well it doesn’t even startup anyway, but i’ve got EasyBCD and apparently, that corrects it so you are able to have Windows 7 pre installed

when i had installed windows XP and windows 7 together on the same HDD by making 2 separate partition
I made a mistake i installed windows 7 first and then installed windows XP
so after installing windows XP there was only windows XP in OS selection menu
i could not get windows 7 back even if it was perfect
I found that i should have installed windows XP first
So i think you should remove all of your OS then re-partition your drive
Install windows XP then install windows 7 finally go for Ubuntu but install ubuntu in DEMO mode other wise it would ask for partition of disc in non windows format so that a part of your disc will be taken up by ubuntu

Good luck………

Q&A: Windows 7 Boot Issues?
windows 7 issue
by wallyg

Question from Past. Present. Future.: Windows 7 Boot Issues?
Hi,

Just bought a Dell Inspiron 560:
Win 7 HP
CORE 2 QUAD 2.5Ghz
4GB DDR3
640GB
ATI HD 5450 1GB

and it’s playing up already. The OS was pre-installed and about a week into running it, it often struggles booting up Windows. It switches on, loads the BIOS, gets onto ‘Windows is Starting’ and before the colourful dots start appearing, switches off and reboots. This process happens about 2-5 times before it eventually boots properly. I am often given the startup repair option, which does not find any errors. Memory test is fine also. I am probably going to re-install Windows, but what is strange is that if I restart the computer (when logged on), these issues do not happen. It could be the PSU, but I am not sure.

2yr guarantee on it btw, so will get Dell round if no one knows.

Any ideas?

Thanks ;)

after bootup, how many processes running in task manager will tell u what up..ctrl-alt-delete…..40 processes with 3rd party antivirius and firewall…no real reason to have more than 45…more than that is a hack been done to u….if the processes are right …..try mircosoft fix it client download and run…..free….or….try running recovery and get out of box condition…..want to do a complex fix….get the list of HK commands and edit registry entries……no recomended unless u know how…one mistake and its a wash without re-install from a bootable disc…..

It’s not like you can install only 2 OS.

You can install other OS’s also(No of OS can installed, I am not sure).Because i saw the systems running 3 OS.

First install Any Windows Operating Systems and Then install Linux OS. Because most of the times Windows OS overwrite MBR(Master Boot Record, So you can’t see the Other OS installed on your Machine, Some times both the OS’s can’t work.

So install XP first, then Windows 7 and the Install UBUNTU.

one more thing, after installing XP, remove your installation disk from Drive and then Reboot.

Helped?

Thanks,
Dinesh

Q&A: How do I connect a printer to Windows 7?

Question from Beth Johnson: How do I connect a printer to Windows 7?
I am running Windows 7 on my new computer. On an older computer on the same subnet I have a HP Deskjet printer. On the new machine I can browse to the older computer and see the printer. The computer and the printer are turned on. When I try to instal the printer on the new computer I get an error, “Windows cannot connect to the printer.” Since another computer on the same subnet can communicate with the printer, I am fairly sure that the printer and the older computer are running correctly. Can anyone suggest how to complete the installation?

Answer by Tee,d off
1.Download the Windows Vista/7 printer driver for the “Your Printer”
2.Install the driver on your Windows Vista computer. During installation, you’ll be prompted to connect the printer to your computer. Choose the option to proceed with installation without connecting the printer.
3.After installation completes, open the Printers applet from the Windows Vista Control Panel.
4.Right-click on the new “Your Printer” and choose Properties.
5.Go to the Ports tab.
6.Click Add Port…, select Local Port, then click New Port…
7.For the port name, enter exactly the network path and share name of your printer (e.g. \RECEPTION\Your Printer Series).
8.Click OK, and double-check that this new port is selected with the checkbox next to it.
9.Click OK to close the printer properties.

also, when i go to “itunes store” it says that it isnt connected…it tells me to check if my network connection is active and try again…so yea then i cant get any new podcasts…. Can someone please help me???? thanks
Thank you ..this seems like this is a really good answer but when i right click the itunes icon on my desktop there isnt a tab called “compatibility”…so therefore i cant proceed with your instructions….
OH..i clicked the other icon and i found it thanks

Popular answer:

Answer by geofft
What you need to do is right-click on the iTunes icon, and click on the tab called “Compatibility”, and uncheck “Run this program….” (and all the other checkboxes, if they’re set).

This should take care of the network connection problem, too. (If it doesn’t, reading through iTunes preferences and seeing that everything makes sense is probably worthwhile.)

Your error is caused by a video card driver or DirectX issue. If you haven’t done so, please update DirectX to the latest build (http://www.microsoft.com/windows/directx) and update your video card drivers.

You may also want to check on this task as I haven’t recalled seeing this running yet:

Q&A: Why is windows 7 not installing on my computer?

Question from Cameron_K: Why is windows 7 not installing on my computer?
I have a good computer with windows vista on it. I checked to make sure my computer was able to run win 7 and it was. However, when I go to install it, the installation gets to the “completing installation” section and gives me the blue screen of death and it executes the rollback and returns the computer back to vista. Anyone else have this problem? Please help!

I would recommend doing a clean install of Windows 7. It was buggy for me when I was installing it too.

You can do this by booting from the Windows 7 CD and choosing Advanced I believe. Just don’t choose upgrade. Format the drive first before installing.

Windows Media Player 12 for Windows 7 5.1 audio to stereo issue!!?

Question from george maximus: Windows Media Player 12 for Windows 7 5.1 audio to stereo issue!!?
hi guys, so i have a movie file that’s an .mp4 file with 6 channels (5.1) sound. Windows Media Player (WMP) can play it just fine, it’s just that the audio output is 5.1 and not stereo. I’m using a laptop which has stereo but WMP is trying to play it in 5.1 surround, so it sounds really thin on my speakers, like most of the movie dialogue is towards the left speaker. I can’t find an option to change the audio channels for WMP. Anyone here know how to solve this?? thanks guys!

Popular answer:

Answer by Tony
WMP Detects the config in your sound card options make sure that is set to stereo.
If that doesnt work then your coppy of the Movie’s probably bad.
