How do I make active windows look like inactive windows in Windows 7?

Question from Jacob: How do I make active windows look like inactive windows in Windows 7?
I like how the inactive minimize, maximize, and close buttons look in inactive windows, and I was wondering how I can change the active windows to look like the inactive version. Can anyone help me out? I know there were advanced options in Windows XP for stuff like this, but I can’t find them in Windows 7.

Thanks in advance!

Had a virus problem last week in windows 7, now my administrator rights have been changed?
windows 7 problem

Question from docroy77: Had a virus problem last week in windows 7, now my administrator rights have been changed?
Last week I had a virus problem in Windows 7. I managed to clear it but it disabled task manager, system restore, and other stuff like that. I’ve gone into group policies (following a guide) but these items were not activated. The task manager option did come back when I deactivated it but is there a single option / policy which the virus hit and which will return the machine to normal?
Just said mate, system restore was disabled.

Q&A: My microphone won’t work after installing windows 7, how can I fix it?

Question from Amanda: My microphone won’t work after installing windows 7, how can I fix it?
I just installed the upgrade for Windows 7 on my Acer 5810 tz laptop. Unfortunately my microphone now does not work. I have all the updated realtek drivers for it, I have troubleshooted it and tested and it keeps coming back as working properly but when I try to record something it only records silence and does not pick up my voice. Is this a windows 7 issue or a Realtek issue or both and how can I fix it? My microphone is built into my laptop.

1. Click control panel, then Security Center.
2. Then in Resources click, change the way security center alerts me.
3. Uncheck the box that says Automatic Updates…that will fix that and remove the flashing icon.

How do your resolve a common Windows Vista Basic starting issue?

Question from HiSee: How do your resolve a common Windows Vista Basic starting issue?
More than half of the time when I start up my laptop, I get this stupid error and have to restart (sometimes a few times) for the system to boot up correctly. Upon starting the system up, I get this msg:

You are about to be logged off

!
Windows must now restart because the DCOM Server Process Launcher service terminated unexpectedly

It restarts and then will work. But sometimes I have to go through this 3-4 times = annoying.

OR is this just another known Vista Home Basic issue being debugged by the MS gurus?
It was preinstalled with the Dell laptop and I had to take out a lot of junk already which helped considerably.

how do I fix the windows 7 audio problem?

Question from Aharon N: how do I fix the windows 7 audio problem?
im running windows 7 on my hp laptop and since around march; when I am playing music or some other audio when I increase the volume from the laptop itself the audio will get really broken up for about 3 seconds. How do I fix this? is there a patch that I can apply?

Popular answer:

Answer by no
Is the broken up and distorted audio only on certain frequencies of sound? Like for example if you play a particular song or sound and it sounds distorted every time at the same point?

If this is the case this is an issue I experienced with my Windows 7 HP laptop and the culprit was the special effect and sound processing effects that the built in sound card has that shipped enabled out of the box. After disabling these effects I didn’t experience the problem anymore.

Try double clicking on your Speaker icon on the taskbar.
Double click on the IDT Speakers and headphones volume icon.
Click on the Enhancement tabs
Check the box to disable all enhancements and apply the changes.

Now try to play the same sounds/songs again and see if you experience the skipping/distortion. If you are still experiencing the problem your issue may lie elsewhere. But in the case of one of my recent HP laptops this was the case. Many of the sounds coming in Half Life 2 the game for example sounded horribly distorted so much so that I thought my speakers were blown. The sound procesing effects of the sound card do not pair well at all with the built in speakers in ALL of HP laptops that I have used. The sound processing effects distort heavily on a lot of specific frequencies resulting in not a pleasant audio listening experience.
