I Don’t Know Why The FU$^&( I Went To Use My Printer Scanner And It Says: USB Is Not Connected (It’s Impossible) Cause The USB Cable & The Energy Cable Are Working Fine , I Can Print & Copy (How Could I Do It If The USB Is Not Connected?) By The Way I Have An Extra USB Cable (NEW) And I Replace it To See What Happens And I Have The Same Problem. HELP!!

Question from Kona: HP C4500 Scanner problem?
I’m at home now, so I have to use the wireless connection to connect to my dad’s printer/scanner. Its a C4580 Photosmart printer with a scanner on top (and I have a Macbook Pro). Basically, the scanner worked fine and scanned 8 pictures without problem, and then, it decides to shrink the area of what I wanted to scan from the picture, and tilts it about 45 degrees so its diagonal. I have no idea why it just started now.
This is what I’ve done so far, and nothing changed:
-got rid of a bunch of old files to clear up the memory
-restarted my computer
-turned the printer on/off
-closed and reopened HP photosmart studio
I have no idea what else I can do to make this stupid thing work correctly! It did give me a message about there “being no more memory” to save, so that’s why I trashed a lot of old files and deleted them.
Please help!

Check your viewer. Sometimes, the viewer will rotate the pic 45 degree and it looks smeared sort of. That is the problem when you exchange data between PC and Mac. Save the image as jpeg. That should solve the problem.

We have just setup a new scanner Kodak i1440 at our work. We use a program called laserfiche to scan our document. The problem is that lets say when we have the scan window open for the scanning process, once we close this window and click on the scan button so that the scanning window opens again, it will not. The actual CPU process for the LFSCAN.EXE (laserfiche scan) sits in the memory, unless you end task that by doing ctrl+alt+delete, the scan window will not open again! and this is an annoying process since we change folder often and we have to close the scan window to change folders since only one scan window is allowed to be open at once. we just bought a new computer too and tested the process on that one but still the same problem exists!any help?!

Well when i press the scan button it doesn’t work it’s as simple as that.
I tried fixing it and i found something that might be a problem, but don’t know how to fix it. I went to
Control Panel/ Hardware and Sound/ Scanner and Cameras
then i saw my scanner and when I look at my properties/ event
I see that the selected event and the choice was do nothing and i can’t click the other choices as they are filled out and can’t press it. Although there is Start this program and beside it it says no application are registered for this event. So my question is how do i fix it so that it works??
There is no Solution center icon I have on my desktop

There is no fxing to be done or anything. Just go to your Desktop. You would be having an icon Called Solution center. Click on It. The Menu will be having a SCAN button. In future scan all your photos/documents through this. Treat the single button scan on the machine as decor piece.

I have a scanner, HP SCANJET G2710, and when i scan something, it appears as if scanning, but the picture that appears is just plain purple, with no indication of the picture which i wanted to scan. What is going on?

If you just got the scanner sounds like a driver problem, try looking on Hp’s website for the software you need.

We have an HP 4 in 1 (scan, copy, fax, print) the model is 7780 and we use it as a stand alone scanner. We use a flash drive to store the scanned documents. I start to notice that when I use the 1 gig flash drive, I very frequently get scanning errors and I have to reset the machine. Today I tried a 256 mb flash drive and the error does not seem to happen. I called HP and they do not seem to have a clear answer. Does any of you have the same issues. Does the size of the flash drive really matter?

you may want to reinstall the printer software. i recently had inconsistent errors with mine and this did the trick.

We are having a family reunion and are going to be going from house to house and put all family photos on a dvd. We’re going to go to each family members house so we don’t have any issues where people don’t get their photos back. We want a GOOD portable scanner that we can carry with us. We wouldn’t be doing any editing then it would all be done at a later time once we’ve gather photos. Ideally we would want to name then right away.

Question from icez71coy: Symbol Scanner PDT6846 bar code scanning problem?
The problem occurs when scanning a 11 digit pallet id number into a 20 digit field. The 9 leading zeros are not populated in the field as they should be, so the pallet id number is not recognized by the system. How can I fix this were the leading zeros populate? I know it can be done because our other scanners do it just a certain few do not. We are running stay linked software if that helps. Thanks for any info!

Try changing your scanner options.
If you have vista, go to Start > search “scanners and cameras” > select the cannon Inkjet icon > click “scan profiles” > change the default setting to grayscale.

A CATS scanner is a barcode scanner and I’m looking into to buying one for work related issues but I’m wanting to know what CATS stands for.
It’s being used in the wireless industry as in scanning barcodes on antennas on cell phone towers.

I have never heard of that term (CATS) and my company has had barcode scanners where I work for 10 years. I’m the IT person.
Are you sure you don’t mean CAT5 (CAT Five)? Those are ethernet cables, aka Category 5 cables.
We use wireless scan guns to scan barcodes for pallet tracking. The connect via access points to our Unix server.
