Keep tapping F8 when booting and choose Last Known Good Configuration
Next try Safe Mode then
Start>Programs>Accessories>System Tools>System Restore
Pick an earlier day before the problem started
You either have a Trojan or Software that did not install properly

Question from jughead: Dell CRT monitor problem.?
The monitor came with a Dimension 2400. Lately a box keeps popping up in the middle of the screen. It’s a box for changing settings on the monitor, but you are not able to do much with it. Sometimes pressing exit on the monitor makes it go away, sometimes not. Sometimes it goes away on it’s own but it always comes back. It’s a real pain. Anyone know the cause and/or solution to this problem?
Thanks for the help guys, but how do I reset the monitor?

Question from glenwut: Tex on one part of the screen always appears bold. Please help?
Hi, I just got a new lcd monitor and on one part of the screen the text is always displayed in bold. I have tested what I am seeing by taking screen shots then moving the text around and it is definitely the display which is doing this.
Anyone know what the problem is? I would really appreciate some help.
It is happening in Firefox and Notepad, so I assume it is a problem with the monitor and not a specific program.
Thanks for responding.

I might expect this on a CRT monitor, but have never heard of it on an LCD.
What program is it doing it in? Word? Excel? Internet Explorer?
If it was a CRT, i’d go to the menu and degauss the screen.

Question from sman017: How can I fix my CRT television set when the color has been corrupted in the top left corner?
I placed a stereo speaker on top of the TV and it seems to have affected the picture right about where it was sitting. Now colors appear green, pink, and kind of washed out in that spot. Please help!

Turning the TV off and on again should activate the de-gaussing (de-magnetising) coils and get rid of the problem. If you’ve really done a number on it the only way to fix it is with a hand held degaussing coil which usually tv engineers have.

Check that your monitor to pc cable (VGA cable) is connected properly, if it is and you still have a problem try a different cable.
Clear the BIOS on the motherboard, short the pins or however you do it, check your board manual.
Is this a new error, was it previously working ok?

Right click on the desktop, go to Properties or Screen Resolution (depending on your OS). Make sure the device (your TV) is set to attached in the properties window.
If it is connected, make sure you have the type of display set to clone and not extend desktop.

Question from CODE_717: problem with my CRT monitor?
Hi,
There is some problem with my CRT monitor. It displays one line in the center of the monitor screen. I consulted the service center guy he told it’s due to the coating problem in the monitor. It’s a Microtek monitor, is there anything I can do about it? Or should I go for a new one? But which one again opt for CRT or LCD. Is there anything to do with the life of the monitor. What’s the life of CRT monitor compared with LCD? Any relation between them or it’s same.

Flat monitors use less energy. Don’t buy a cheap Balance monitor from China.
